RUN FOR STATE OFFICE

Apply to be a Colorado FBLA High School State Officer and help direct the future of our organization.

Officer Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a Colorado CTE approved business program

  • Hold at least a 2.5 GPA

  • Have completed at least one full year of high school FBLA

  • Held a s/elected office in the local FBLA chapter, district chapter, or other CTSO

  • Completed at least two levels of the Business Achievement Awards

  • Have the local adviser's approval

  • Confirm attendance at all mandatory state officer meetings in their entirety, including virtual meetings. Dates will be listed in the State Officer Handbook. The local chapter adviser is also required to attend the May, September, December, and March State Officer meetings.

Application Process

Interested candidates must submit an officer application by the posted deadline. Online applications require:​

  • Personal candidate information, including a one-page resume, list of business classes taken, list of offices held

  • Submitted article to the Colorado FBLA Today newsletter about the candidate's FBLA story

  • Link to a pre-recorded 2-minute speech promoting FBLA

  • All required signatures

Once applications have closed, candidates will be given pre-conference activities to complete and will be asked to conduct a virtual interview with the state officer team adviser. At the conference, candidates will be scheduled for in-person interviews with the Selection Committee and will be required to complete a State Officer Knowledge Test.

Final ratings for all candidates are scored as follows:

  • Application Materials - 25%

  • Pre-Conference Activities - 25%

  • Selection Committee Interviews - 40%

  • State Officer Knowledge Test - 10%

Officer Responsibilities

  • Set FBLA as a priority to other activities.

  • Attend all state officer meetings/trainings in their entirety (in person/virtual). 

    • Have reliable internet service for virtual

  • Assist with communication to Colorado members/advisers.

  • Complete paperwork, officer reports, and travel authorizations in a timely manner.

  • Work with the state officer team in planning state activities.

  • Complete tasks as assigned in the Program of Work.

  • Public relations and networking.

  • Meet periodically with local adviser for guidance/advice.

  • Work closely with the State Adviser and the State Officer Team Adviser(s) and complete additional tasks as assigned.
